Pole 2 Pole Baseball, a global collaboration between baseball playing nations is pleased to announce a friendship tour by the German Baseball Academy (Deutsche Baseball Akademie) hosted by Cape Town's The Baseball Academy. The German Baseball Academy tour will take place from December 22, 2014 to January 4, 2015.
The Tournament will be an under 18 tournament but because of the delta in experience between the two nations and the desire for a competitive tournament, South Africa will be permitted to include some 18 year olds in the tournament teams. The German team however will be a tough opponent and is likely to include at least three prospects who are on the brink of signing professional contracts in the near future.
The tournament squads will stay at the University of Cape Town and be provided with breakfast. Teams will spend the mornings touring Cape Town and tournament games will be scheduled for the afternoons.
This will be an invitational event with players invited by The Baseball Academy and the event coaching staff. The event is not hosted by the South Africa Baseball Union or the Baseball Association of Western Province (BAWP) or any BAWP (or SABU) affiliated club and does not require the sanctioning of the Federation or the Union. Furthermore, The Baseball Academy has obtained the necessary permissions to contact players and/ or clubs directly and independently regarding their participation in this event.
